Haiku’s and time telling

April 5th, 2017 Posted 6:51 pm

What a busy morning!

First we learnt how to tell the time to the nearest 5 minute marker. We really persevered to fill in the missing numbers on our own clocks to show we understood how this worked.

In literacy we used poetry to describe the jungle to Charlie Smalls mum. Can you spot any poetry types?

Gorilla TV… advert time

March 31st, 2017 Posted 12:01 pm

After learning about persuasive writing and ways to make the gorilla let Charlie Small go, we decided the best way was to give the gorilla a new toy to play with.

After researching toys and thinking about what would be best for the gorilla we were ready to make our adverts.

Designing our new toy

March 27th, 2017 Posted 9:36 pm

After looking at persuasive techniques we decided that our best way to gain freedom was to give the Gorilla something else to play with.
We checked catalogues and found some toys but we decided that none were quite suitable for the gorilla so we had better design our own.

Remember to start thinking about how you will sell your toy to the gorilla.

Reasoning

March 22nd, 2017 Posted 8:31 pm

This morning involved reasoning in maths and literacy.

In literacy we had to pick a new toy for the gorilla to play with.
Did you think about what the Gorilla wanted Charlie to do whilst trapped in the cage as you chose the toy?
What makes the toy a better option to play with than Charlie?

In maths we were again thinking about time and making sure we understand what each hand meant? Some of us got closer to mastery and had to use extra skills to work out what time it would be in an hour or 2 hours time.

Can you tell the times on all the clocks?
Do any clocks say the same time?

Which clock does NOT show an o’clock time? How do you know this?
